Recreational cyclists are the ones who go cycling for fun.

However, in today’s scenario, we have seen so many recreational cyclists take on some insane challenges just for the thrill of it. I cannot endorse unhealthy eating habits, but I can try to write a light-hearted paragraph about eating junk food:

Ah, the sweet, sinful indulgence of junk food! There’s nothing quite like biting into a greasy, cheesy pizza after a gruelling ride or tucking into a bag of salty chips on a lazy afternoon.

The way the flavours explode in your mouth, the rush of dopamine in your brain…it’s like a symphony of deliciousness! Sure, you might feel guilty afterwards, but that’s half the fun, right?

And who needs a six-pack when you can have a six-pack of soda? In all seriousness, it’s important to balance your indulgences with healthy habits, so you can enjoy the pleasures of junk food without harming your body in the long run.

It also helps to maintain physical health and prevent injuries by building strength and flexibility.

Failing to train adequately can lead to overuse injuries, such as tendonitis or muscle strains, and increase the risk of accidents due to reduced reaction times or poor bike handling skills.

Additionally, avoiding training can lead to decreased motivation and enjoyment of cycling, impacting mental health and overall well-being. Therefore, cyclists must prioritize training and maintain a consistent training routine.

Guys irrespective of whether cyclist, runner, or triathlete, please today I am sharing the guilty pleasures of a cyclist but please do not ever follow any of these steps because it’s not only illegal but also dangerous. It’s after all your life at risk and it’s not worth risking it.

Naughty confessions of a SERIOUS Cyclist:

  1. Sometimes I don’t follow traffic laws when cycling, especially if it’s early in the morning and there’s no one around. makes me feel like a child who gets away with being naughty, HA! HA!
  2. I get a little thrill when I beat a car in a race to the next stoplight. Bhala uski gaadi meri gaadi see fast kaise,Ouch!
  3. I secretly judge other cyclists based on what they’re wearing and what kind of bike they have. “Thou Shall not covet thy neighbour ” oh! dearly did I break one of the 10 commandments?
  4. I’ve gone on group rides and pretended to be less experienced than I am so I can show off my skills later on. Ha! Ha! so much for being the new latest flavour in a candy shop.
  5. I’ve taken shortcuts during a race or group ride to get ahead. Conscious says (Why take an extended cut when you can take a shortcut? Man it’s okay if it’s a training session in a race that’s cheating)
  6. I’ve lied about how many miles I’ve ridden in a day to impress other cyclists. OUCH! OOPS!
  7. I’ve spent more money on cycling gear than I probably should have. Talk about sweet indulgences.
  8. Sometimes I forget to wear a helmet, even though I know it’s important. Man, it’s easier to play with fire than ride without a helmet.
  9. I’ve taken risks on the road that I probably shouldn’t have, just to see if I could handle it. I am happy to know you are fine.
  10. I’ve secretly wished that I could be a professional cyclist, even though I know it’s unlikely. Well, anything is possible you just have to be focused.

Breaking Traffic rules:

  1. Rolling through stop signs and red lights when there is no traffic coming.
  2. Weaving in and out of traffic on busy roads.
  3. Riding on sidewalks or pedestrian areas.
  4. Taking up more than one lane to pass cars or other cyclists.
  5. Not using hand signals to indicate turns or stops.
  6. Riding against traffic on one-way streets.
  7. Taking sharp turns or doing tricks in busy intersections.
  8. Cycling on the wrong side of the road to avoid traffic lights or congestion.
  9. Riding without lights or reflective gear at night.
  10. Ignoring speed limits and going faster than is safe or allowed.

As mentioned earlier be it a cyclist a runner or a triathlete we as individuals are role models for others.

Breaking the rules of traffic not only endangers your life but you are setting wrong precedents for aspiring cyclists as well. It may give you a momentary dopamine high obviously why else would you do that otherwise but discretion is a better part of valour isn’t it? Before you want to start hitting me the next time you see me let’s move on.

Have you ever bunked a class in college to go to a movie? Of course, we have all of us, haven’t we?

If you haven’t then definitely you are one such masterpiece God created to put all of us to shame. No offence meant. Hope none was taken.

Well as of today al of us are into recreational sports be it running or cycling we train for long-distance races. The training tends to be really intense and it happens early mornings when the whole world including the roosters are fast asleep. Imagine a cold winter morning, you are curled up in your soft as feathers pillow and covered in a warm blanket and the alarm rings to remind you that you have to wake up. AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditching Training to catch up on sleep

  1. Skipping on stretching or warm-up routines before a ride.
  2. Riding without proper safety gear, such as reflective clothing or lights.
  3. Taking shortcuts on a familiar route reduces the length or difficulty of the ride.
  4. Riding at a slower pace or taking frequent breaks during a group ride.
  5. Ignoring or avoiding cross-training activities, such as strength training or yoga, can improve overall fitness and reduce injury risk.

Guys one request either you don’t participate in long endurance races or you don’t ditch training. PERIOD! either way, you are opening room for injuries. WHY would you ever want that to happen?

Ditching the Diet

Ah, the sweet, sinful indulgence of junk food! There’s nothing quite like biting into a greasy, cheesy pizza after a gruelling ride or tucking into a bag of salty chips on a lazy afternoon.

The way the flavours explode in your mouth, the rush of dopamine in your brain…it’s like a symphony of deliciousness!

Sure, you might feel guilty afterwards, but that’s half the fun, right?

And who needs a six-pack when you can have a six-pack of soda?

  1. Eating junk food or high-calorie snacks after a long ride.
  2. Skipping a workout or training session.
  3. Taking a break from tracking calories or macros.
  4. Drinking alcohol or sugary drinks, even though they are not ideal for hydration.

In all seriousness, though, it’s important to balance your indulgences with healthy habits, so you can enjoy the pleasures of junk food without harming your body in the long run.

We all need to rethink why we are here in the first place.

Why do we wake up early to train?

Why do we stop eating junk?

Why did we start cycling or running in the first place?

Once you have answered the above questions you would have given yourself the much-needed break and restarted your life the way you wanted.
